Verizon is yet to update Galaxy S3 to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, now a new VRBLK3 Android 4.1 firmware has got leaked. The firmware is ready to be flashed manually on device for those who just can’t wait for the official release of Android 4.1 firmware.
The firmware may have bugs, so be careful. Lets go through the guide to install leaked VRBLK3 Android 4.1 firmware on Verizon Galaxy S 3.
The guide mentioned below is only for the Verizon Galaxy S3 and cannot be tried on any other device.
The procedure described below is only for the Verizon Galaxy S3. Do not try it on any other device, not even on other variants of the same device.
Update VRBLK3 Android 4.1.1 Firmware on Verizon Galaxy S3
Take a complete backup of data,apps and settings as the procedure may wipe your data. Select “Backup and Restore” and then select “Backup” again.
Make sure that the battery of device has a minimum charge of 60%.
Enable “USB debugging” on your device by going to Settings >> Developer options >> Enable USB debugging.
Install Kies Software by Samsung on your computer.
Download VRBLK3 Android 4.1.1 Firmware.
Download Odin (Odin3_v3.04.zip) required to flash firmware. Extract the contents to get “Odin3 v3.04.exe” file.
Switch off device and put your device in download mode. Press and hold Volume Down, Home, Power till device turns on and then press Volume Up to enter download mode.
Connect device to your computer and Odin will detect your device and ID:COM will turn yellow and a message appears saying “Added”. Re-install drivers if Odin fails to detect device.
Click on PDA Button and navigate to select .tar file which you have extracted in earlier step.
Click on Start button in Odin to start flashing Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean firmware. When flashing is complete you will get a PASS message.
Disconnect device from your computer.
Your device will reboot automatically.
