Unlock Bootloader On HTC Droid DNA

HTC Droid is a 5-inch, 1080p full-HD display smartphone running on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Unlocking bootloader of device enables you to install Custom ROMs on your device but it voids warranty. HTC normally allows users to unlock bootloader from the official website of HTCdev for most of its devices.

We will be going through guide to unlock bootloader on HTC Droid DNA.

The guide mentioned below is only for HTC Droid DNA and may not work for any other device.

We cannot be held liable of any damage done to your device while following the below mentioned procedure.

Unlock bootloader on HTC Droid DNA

Take a complete backup of data,apps and settings as the procedure may wipe your data.

Make sure that the battery of device has a minimum charge of 60%.

Enable “USB debugging” on your device by going to Settings >> Developer options >> Enable USB debugging.

Download Fastboot Package (fastboot.zip) on your computer.

Extract “Fastboot.zip” file to a folder named Fastboot.

Create an Account with HTC dev center.

Sign in to your HTCdev Account click on “unlock bootloader” page and select “All Other Supported Models” and click on “Begin Unlock Bootloader”.

By accepting terms and conditions click on “Proceed to Unlock Instructions” button.

Switch off device and boot into Fastboot mode by holding Volume Down button and Power buttons.

Connect device to your computer via USB cable.

On second page on htcdev site, click on “Proceed to Step 5″ button.

Now, Open Command Prompt on your computer and type-

fastboot devices to make sure that your device is detected.

Go to third page of HTCdev site and click on “Submit” button, you will get a message that “Token Submitted Succesfully!”. You will receive an email containing the unlock key to bootloader.

Download “unlock_code.bin” file and copy “Unlock_code.bin” to Fastboot folder.

Type command in command prompt-

fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin

You will receive unlock bootloader message on your device. Use volume up button to highlight and use power button to select.

Device will reboot itself.

Bootloader on HTC Droid DNA is unlocked to install Custom ROM.
