Root Xiaomi Mi 5 and install TWRP Recovery. Xiaomi Mi 5 is a 5.15-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 1080 pixels by 1920 pixels, powered by 1.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor and 3GB of RAM.
The guide mentioned below is only for Xiaomi Mi 5 and cannot be tried on any other device.To know the model number of your device go to Settings >> About Phone.

Take a complete backup of data,apps and settings as the procedure may wipe your data.
Make sure that the battery of device has a minimum charge of 60%.
Enable “USB debugging” on your device.
Bootloader should be unlocked.
Install the ADB and fastboot drivers on your PC.
Download SuperSU on your PC.
Connect your Xiaomi Mi 5 to your computer using the USB cable.
Copy SuperSU file to your SD card.
Switch off device and boot into Stock Recovery, Press and hold Volume Down, Home, Power till device turns on and then press Volume Up to enter recovery mode.
Choose “install zip from sd card” and confirm to install “SuperSU” file which you have installed earlier. Wait for few minutes till the installation is complete.
Download TWRP Recovery image on your computer for Xiaomi Mi 5 from here.
Rename the image to twrp.img.
Copy the TWRP file in the same folder of ADB.
Connect Xiaomi Mi 5 to computer using USB cable.
Right click on the command folder to “Open command window here” option.
Open a command prompt and type:
adb reboot bootloader
To flash TWRP recovery, type in the command:
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
Once done, disconnect your from the PC and reboot the phone into recovery mode.
