Verizon Galaxy Note 2 has been rooted which will enable you to install apps which require root access. Rooting Verizon Note 2 is easy as you will be required to download Odin to flash the files. Thanks goes to XDA Senior Member droidstyle for making it possible.
Here we will be going through the guide to root Verizon Galaxy Note 2 using Odin. Since, rooting will wipe off data it is better to take a back up.
The guide mentioned below is only for Verizon Galaxy Note 2 and cannot be tried on any other device.
We cannot be held liable of any damage done to your device while following the below mentioned procedure.
Root Verizon Galaxy Note 2
Take a complete backup of data,apps and settings as the procedure may wipe your data.
Make sure that the battery of device has a minimum charge of 60%.
Install drivers for your device. You can use this link to install drivers. The drivers are for Galaxy S3 but will work for Verizon Note 2 also.
Download VRALJB firmware package from here or here. Extract the file and you will get a file which has extension .tar or .md5.
Download Odin ( Odin3_v3.04.zip) and extract the contents of “Odin3_v3.04.zip” on your computer. You will get “Odin3 v3.04.exe” file
Switch off device and boot into download mode. Press Volume Down , Home and Power till device turns on and you get a yellow triangle and then press Volume Up to enter download mode.
Connect your device to computer now. Odin will detect your device and ID:COM will turn yellow and a message will appear “Added”. You will have to re-install drivers properly if Odin fails to detect device.
In Odin click on PDA button and select the .tar or .md5 file which you got in earlier step.
Click on “Start” to install the file. When installation gets complete you will get a message PASS. If you get a message FAIL or Odin gets stuck then disconnect the device from your computer, close Odin and remove battery for few seconds and then again put it back.
Your Verizon Galaxy Note 2 is rooted.
