Root Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-I9505 Using Chainfire Auto-Root

Samsung Galaxy S4 has not hit the global market yet but Galaxy S4 I9500 Exynos vesrion running on Android 4.2.2 XXUAMC6 Jelly Bean firmware is been rooted.

Senior developer Chainfire has rooted Samsung Galaxy S4 I9505 Qualcomm version with his CF-Auto-Root tool. Samsung Galaxy S4 root method is being tested on XXUAMD2 firmware and you should not try it on old firmware.

Root Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-I9505 Using Chainfire Auto-Root

Take a complete back up of your Galaxy S4.

Make sure that the battery of device has a minimum charge of 60%.

Enable “USB debugging” on your device by going to Settings >> Developer options >> Enable USB debugging.

Download CF-Auto-Root Package for Galaxy S4 GT-I9505 (CF-Auto-Root-jflte-jfltexx-gti9505.zip) and Odin (Odin307.zip).

Extract both the files which you have downloaded to your computer.

Switch off device.

Boot device into download mode. Press and hold Volume Down, Home, Power till device turns on and then press Volume Up to enter download mode.

Connect device to computer using USB cable. Odin will detect your device and ID:COM will turn yellow and a message appears saying “Added”. Re-install drivers if Odin fails to detect device.

Click on “PDA button” in Odin and select “CF-Auto-Root-jflte-jfltexx-gti9505.tar.md5” file that you have downloaded.

In Odin make sure that “Auto Reboot” and “F.Reset Time” are selected and “Re-Partition” check box is unchecked.

Click on Start button in Odin to start rooting procedure.

Disconnect device from your computer and let it boot automatically when the rooting procedure gets finished.

Galaxy S4 I9505 is rooted now using Chainfire Auto-Root. Install “Root Checker” from Google Play to check your device is rooted.
