Root OnePlus 5T and install TWRP Recovery. OnePlus 5T sport a 6.01-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 1080 pixels by 2160 pixels, powered by 2.45GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor and 6GB of RAM.
TWRP Recovery will enable you to install Custom ROMs, MODs and more.
The guide mentioned below is only for OnePlus 5T and cannot be tried on any other device or variant. You can check device model by going to Settings >> About Phone.
Root OnePlus 5T and install TWRP Recovery
Take a complete backup of data,apps and settings as the procedure may wipe your data.
Make sure that the battery of device has a minimum charge of 60%.
Enable “USB debugging” on your device.
Install the ADB and fastboot drivers on your PC.
Bootloader should be unlocked.
Download TWRP Recovery for OnePlus 5T from here.
Download SuperSU from here.
Rename the OnePlus 5T TWRP Recovery.img to “recovery.img” and place the file in the ADB folder.
Connect your device to the PC via USB cable.
Right-click on ADB folder while holding down the Shift Key and select ‘Open command window here’.
In the command prompt window type commands and hit enter:
adb reboot bootloader
Your device will reboot in fastboot mode.
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
and hit enter. This will flash the recovery on your device.
Type fastboot reboot to reboot your device.
When in TWRP, flash SuperSU by selecting it from the “Install” menu.
You have rooted OnePlus 5T and installed TWRP Recovery successfully.
