Root OnePlus 2 and install TWRP Recovery. OnePlus 2 smartphone features a 5.50-inch 1080×1920 display powered by 1.8GHz processor along with a 4GB RAM and sports a 13-megapixel rear camera.
TWRP Recovery will enable you to install Custom ROMs, MODs and more.
The guide mentioned below is only for OnePlus 2 and cannot be tried on any other device or variant. You can check device model by going to Settings >> About Phone.
Root OnePlus 2 and install TWRP Recovery
Take a complete backup of data,apps and settings as the procedure may wipe your data.
Make sure that the battery of device has a minimum charge of 60%.
Enable “USB debugging” on your device.
Install the ADB and fastboot drivers on your PC.
Bootloader should be unlocked.
Download the TWRP recovery file from here.
Rename the Oneplus 2 TWRP Recovery.img to “recovery.img” and place the file in the ADB folder.
Connect your device to the PC via USB cable.
Right-click on ADB folder while holding down the Shift Key and select ‘Open command window here’.
In the command prompt window type commands and hit enter:
Your device will reboot in fastboot mode.
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
and hit enter. This will flash the recovery on your device.
Type fastboot reboot to reboot your device.
How to root OnePlus 2
Download the SuperSU.zip package from here.
Transfer the file to your device internal storage.
Boot your device into Recovery Mode by pressing and holding the Volume Down and Power buttons.
When you see TWRP recovery tap and install the SuperSU.zip file which you have downloaded.
Flash SuperSU on your device, it will take some time.
Your device will reboot once SuperSU is flashed.
You have rooted OnePlus 2 and installed TWRP Recovery.
