Root Moto G5S Plus and install TWRP Recovery. Motorola Moto G5S Plus is a 5.50-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 1080 pixels by 1920 pixels, powered by 2GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The smartphone runs on Android 7.1 Nougat and sports a  13-megapixel primary camera.

TWRP Recovery will enable you to install Custom ROMs, MODs and more.

The guide mentioned below is only for Moto G5S Plus and cannot be tried on any other device or variant. You can check device model by going to Settings >> About Phone.

Install TWRP Recovery on Moto G5S Plus

Take a complete backup of data, apps and settings as the procedure may wipe your data.

Make sure that the battery of device has a minimum charge of 60%.

Enable “USB debugging” on your device.

Install the ADB and fastboot drivers on your PC.

Bootloader should be unlocked.

Download TWRP Recovery for Moto G5S Plus from here and rename it to “recovery.img” and place the file in the ADB folder.

Connect your device to the PC via USB cable.

Right-click on ADB folder while holding down the Shift Key and select ‘Open command window here’.

In the command prompt window type commands and hit enter:

adb reboot bootloader

Your device will reboot in fastboot mode.


fastboot flash recovery twrp.img

and hit enter. This will flash the recovery on your device.

Type fastboot reboot to reboot your device.

Root Moto G5S Plus using SuperSU

Download SuperSU zip file and copy on your Moto G5S Plus.

Boot your device into Recovery Mode by pressing and holding the Volume Down and Power buttons.

Tap and install the zip file which you have copied to your device earlier

Flash SuperSU on your device, it will take some time.

Your device will reboot once SuperSU  is flashed.

You have rooted Moto G5S Plus and installed TWRP Recovery.
