LG Optimus 4X HD has been rooted after one month of its launch thanks goes to XDA forum member.In this post we will be going through a guide on how to Root LG Optimus 4X HD.Rooting voids the warranty of a phone so make sure that you are comfortable with it.
The tutorial mentioned here is only for LG Optimus 4X HD (O4X P880) and will not work on any other Android device.You can check the Model No. of device by going to Settings >> About phone.We cannot be held liable for any damage done to your device while following the steps.
Root LG Optimus 4X HD (Guide)
Before you root your device it is advisable that you backup data, apps and settings as it may wipe your data.
Your device should have minimum of 50% of battery charge.
Enable USB Debugging.You can do it by going to “Settings” >> “Developer settings” >> Enable “USB debugging” option.
Enable “unknown sources” option on your device. Go to Settings >> Security menu >> Enable “unknown sources” option.
Download and install LG Device Drivers from here.
Download HTC One X Toolkit from here and move it to your device.
Download IS11LG_SystemBackupTest.signed.apk file from here and move it to your device.
Open IS11LG_SystemBackupTest.signed.apk file using a File Manager and install SystemBackupTest app.
After installation is complete, reboot your device. Press and hold Power button on device and select “Power off and restart option” to reboot.
Connect device to computer using USB cable and wait till the drivers are installed.
Open the folder where you extracted HTC One X Toolkit zip file and right-click on “root” file and click on Run as adminstrator to start rooting. The device will automatically reboot 3 times during the procedure.
Download and install “SuperSu” from Google Play Store.
Open “SuperSu” after installing and Press “OK” when asked to update SU binary. Close SuperSU after updating.
Remove “SystemBackupTest” app from your device.
You have rooted LG Optimus 4X HD now!
