Root Xperia U and install ClockworkMod (CWM) Recovery. Sony Xperia U is a 3.5-inch TFT capacitive touchscreen smartphone, powered by 1 GHz Dual Core processor having Internal Memory of 8 GB. Xperia U should be running on Android ICS.
Make sure that the battery of device has a minimum charge of 60%.
Enable “USB debugging” on your device by going to Settings >> Developer options >> Enable USB debugging.
USB data cable should be there with you.
Root Xperia U
Download the root package from here.
Download the zip file and extract it to your computer.
Connect device using USB cable.
Run RunMe.bat executable file from your computer.
Choose “Normal mode” option if prompted.
Select “root” option now. Rooting procedure will start automatically.
Disconnect device and reboot it.
You have rooted Sony Xperia U.
Install ClockworkMod (CWM) Recovery on Sony Xperia U
Download the required recovery file from here and extract the files on your computer.
Connect your device using USB cable to your computer.
Run “RecoverX” executable file and select your device from Drop Down Menu shown.
Select the option “ClockworkMod recovery” from the custom recovery list.
Click “next” button on your computer to start installing recovery on your device.
When the process gets over, disconnect device from computer.
You have rooted Sony Xperia U and installed ClockworkMod (CWM) Recovery. You can now flash Custom ROMs.
