Root HTC Butterfly and install TWRP Recovery. HTC Butterfly is 5.0 inch Super LCD3 capacitive touchscreen having Internal Memory of 16 GB and is powered by Quad-core 1.5 GHz Krait processor. We will be going through the guide to root and install TWRP Recovery on HTC Butterfly.
Rooting voids warranty of your device and to regain warranty you will have to install official firmware.
The guide mentioned below is only for HTC Butterfly and not for any other device. You can check Model number of device by going to Settings >> About phone.

Take a complete backup of data,apps and settings as the procedure may wipe your data.
Make sure that the battery of device has a minimum charge of 60%.
Enable “USB debugging” on your device by going to Settings >> Developer options >> Enable USB debugging.
Bootloader should be unlocked. Go to official HTCdev website to unlock bootloader.
Root HTC Butterfly using SuperSU
Download SuperSU Root (su_buzyb0x.zip) on your computer.
Connect your device to your computer using USB cable.
Copy the zip file to SD-Card of your device.
Switch off device enter into recovery mode. Boot device into download mode. Press and hold Volume Down, Home, Power till device turns on and then press Volume Up to enter download mode.
Once in Recovery select “choose zip from sdcard” to navigate to select “su_buzyb0x.zip” file that you have copied to SD card and select to “install”.
After installation is complete, select “reboot system now”.
HTC Butterfly is rooted using SuperSU.
Install TWRP Recovery on HTC Butterfly

Connect device to your computer and install ADB drivers and Fastboot (Filename: Fastboot.zip).
Copy the recovery.img to android-sdk-windowsplatform-tools directory.
Switch off device.
Enter into Fastboot Mode by switching off your device and switching on in bootloader mode and navigate to select “fastboot option”.
Connect device to your computer via USB Cable.
Open “Fastboot” folder on your computer and click on “Open command window here” to open command prompt window.
Enter the following commands-
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Once installation is complete select Recovery from Main Menu and then select “Recovery Mode”.
Select “Go Back” and select “reboot system now”.
TWRP Recovery is installed on your HTC Butterfly.
