Install XXLSR Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean Firmware on Galaxy S 2 I9100G

I9100GXXLSR Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean is being rolled out for Galaxy S 2 I9100G users in France. The firmware update is available OTA or via Kies Software. We will be going through step by step guide to update to the latest firmware manually.

XXLSR Android 4.1.2 is an official update by Samsung, hence you will lose root and other Custom ROMs installed. You can always root your device later.

Install Official XXLSR Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean firmware on Galaxy S 2 I9100G

Take a complete backup of data,apps and settings as the procedure may wipe your data.

Make sure that the battery of device has a minimum charge of 60%.

Enable “USB debugging” on your device by going to Settings >> Developer options >> Enable USB debugging.

Download Kies Software to install drivers.

Download XXLSR Android 4.1.2 firmware (I9100GXXLSR_I9100GXEFLSR_XEF.zip) update on Galaxy S 2 I9100G and Odin (Odin307.zip).

Extract the Firmware file which you have downloaded in above step. You will get “.tar” file along with other files.

Extract Odin to get “Odin3 v3.07.exe” file.

Switch off device.

Enable “USB debugging” on your device by going to Settings >> Developer options >> Enable USB debugging.

Boot device into download mode. Press and hold Volume Down, Home, Power till device turns on and then press Volume Up to enter download mode.

Connect device to computer using USB cable. Odin will detect your device and ID:COM will turn yellow and a message appears saying “Added”. Re-install drivers if Odin fails to detect device.

Click on “PDA button” in Odin and navigate to select “.tar″ file which you have downloaded.

In Odin make sure that “Auto Reboot” and “F.Reset Time” are selected and “Re-Partition” check box is unchecked.

Click on Start button in Odin to start flashing Android 4.1.2 firmware. When flashing is complete you will get a PASS message.

Disconnect device from your computer and let it boot automatically.

XXLSR Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean firmware on Galaxy S 2 I9100G is installed. You can check firmware version by going to Settings >> About Phone.
