Samsung has released a new XXALJ1 firmware update for Galaxy Note users. The new firmware update brings a new Multi View feature, which lets you to multitask by displaying two different apps on the screen at the same time. The firmware update is available for Galaxy Note 2 users to be downloaded manually.
In this post we will go through the guide to manually update to XXALJ1 firmware to get Multi View feature.
The guide mentioned below is only for international Galaxy Note 2 Model number N7100 and cannot be used in any other device or variant. Find model of your device by going to Settings >> About Tablet.

Install XXALJ1 Firmware on Galaxy Note 2
Take a complete backup of data,apps and settings as the procedure may wipe your data.
Make sure that the battery of device has a minimum charge of 60%.
Enable “USB debugging” on your device by going to Settings >> Developer options >> Enable USB debugging.
Install Kies software for installing USB drivers.
Download firmware XXALJ1 (Filename: Samsung-Updates.com-GT-N7100_XEF_1_20121002105140_ak0l8212ot.zip) and extract the file to get N7100XXALJ1_N7100OXXALJ1_N7100XXALIH_HOME.tar.md5.
Download Odin3 v3.04 (filename: Odin3_v3.04.zip) and extract the file to get “Odin3 v3.04.exe”.
Switch device and enter into download mode. Press and hold Power and Volume Down buttons to enter your device into download mode.
Launch Odin by double-clicking on the “Odin3 v3.04.exe” file.
Connect your device to your computer via USB cable. You will get a message “Added” on Odin and ID:COM section turns Yellow.
In Odin click on “PDA” and select “N7100XXALJ1_N7100OXXALJ1_N7100XXALIH_HOME.tar.md5” file which you downloded in earlier step.
click “Start” button to start flashing firmware on your device. When flashing is complete your device will boot by itself.
If your device does not boot normally and the screen gets stuck then – Go to “Wipe data/Factory Reset” and wait till the data gets wiped and select “reboot system now”.
XXALJ1 firmware is installed on Galaxy Note 2 N7100.
