Galaxy Nexus I9250 users can update their device to official Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean JOP40D.We will be going through the procedure to update Galaxy Nexus to Android 4.2.1 manually.
Galaxy Nexus 4, Galaxy Nexus 7 and Galaxy Nexus 10 have already received Android 4.2.1 update.
The guide mentioned below is only for Samsung Galaxy Nexus I9250 and cannot be tried on any other device or variant. You can check device model by going to Settings >> About phone. Your device should be on Android 4.2 JOP40C.

Install Official Android 4.2.1 JOP40D on Galaxy Nexus I9250
Take a complete backup of data,apps and settings as the procedure may wipe your data.
Make sure that the battery of device has a minimum charge of 60%.
Enable “USB debugging” on your device by going to Settings >> Developer options >> Enable USB debugging.
Download Android 4.2.1 JOP40D update for your device.
Copy the file to SD-Card of your device.
USB drivers should be installed.
Connect your device to computer via USB cable.
Switch off device and boot into download mode. Press and hold Volume Down, Home, Power till device turns on and then press Volume Up to enter recovery.
In recovery select “install zip from sdcard” and then select “choose zip from sdcard” and select to install “Android 4.2.1 update” file. Wait for few minutes till it gets installed.
Select “reboot system now”.
You have now installed official Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean firmware JOP40D on Galaxy Nexus I9250.
