Verizon Samsung Galaxy Nexus users can now update to Android 4.1.1 using a Custom ROM named as Codename Android JB. The ROM is being developed by XDA Senior Member codenamedroid.

The guide is only for Verizon Galaxy Nexus I515 and will not work on any other device. You can find model of your device by going to Settings >> About Phone.

Install Codename Android JB Custom ROM On Verizon Galaxy Nexus I515
Take a complete backup of data,apps and settings as the procedure may wipe your data.
Make sure that the battery of device has a minimum charge of 60%.
Enable “USB debugging” on your device by going to Settings >> Developer options >> Enable USB debugging.
Make sure that Clockworkmod recovery is installed and bootloader of device is unlocked.
Download Codename Android Custom ROM and Google Apps Package.
Copy both the files to SD-Card of your device without extracting.
Switch off device and then boot into Recovery mode. Hold power button and volume down button and enter recovery.
Perform a Nandrop backup of your existing ROM. Select “Backup and Restore” and then select “Backup again”.
Select “wipe data/factory reset” and wait for few minutes for data to get wiped.
Select “install zip from sdcard” and then select “choose zip from sdcard”. Navigate to the AOKP ROM file which you have downloaded and confirm to “install”. Wait till installation gets complete. I
Repeat the procedure to install Google apps by selecting “choose zip from sdcard” and then select “Gapps.zip” and install.
Select “reboot system now”.
