Install CM10.1 nightly build on Nexus 7 based on Android 4.2.2. CyanogenMod10.1 is a Custom ROM and not an official ROM by Samsung. Android 4.2.2 was released few days back for few devices. We have already seen how to install CM10.1 Android 4.2.2 on Nexus 4.
Today we will be going through the tutorial to install CM10.1 nightly build on Nexus 7 based on Android 4.2.2. Nightly build updates itself every day and then finally a stable version is released. There may be bugs and issues as nightly builds are often not tested.
The guide is only for Nexus 7 and cannot be tried on any other device.
We cannot be held liable of any damage done to your device while following the below mentioned procedure.
Install CM10.1 Android 4.2.2 on Nexus 7
Take a complete backup of data,apps and settings as the procedure may wipe your data.
Make sure that the battery of device has a minimum charge of 60%.
Enable “USB debugging” on your device by going to Settings >> Developer options >> Enable USB debugging.
ClockworkMod recovery should be installed. Download ClockworkMod recovery from the official page.
Download CM10.1 Android 4.2.2 for Nexus 7( cm-10.1-20130219-NIGHTLY-grouper.zip) and Google Apps Package.
Copy both the zip files to SD-Card of your device without extracting.
Switch off device and boot into recovery. Hold power button and volume down button and enter recovery.
Perform a Nandrop backup of your existing ROM. Select “Backup and Restore” and then select “Backup again”.
Select “wipe data/factory reset” and wait till the data gets wiped.
Select “install zip from sdcard” and then select “choose zip from sdcard”. Navigate to the CyanogenMod 10.1 ROM file which you have downloaded and confirm to “install”. Wait for few minutes till installation gets complete.
Repeat the procedure to install Google apps by selecting “choose zip from sdcard” and then select “Gapps.zip” and install.
Select “reboot system now”.
