Install CM10.1 Android 4.2.2 on Galaxy S3 I9300

Install Android 4.2.2 on Galaxy S3 I9300 via CyanogenMod10.1, thanks to Elite Recognized Developer codeworkx. CyanogenMod is based on ASOP. Android 4.2.2 was released few days back for devices such as Nexus 4, Nexus 7, Nexus 10 and Nexus and Galaxy Nexus I9250. We will be going through the guide to install Android 4.2.2 on Galaxy S3 I9300.

CM10.1 Android 4.2.2 is a nightly build, hence there may be bugs and issues.

Galaxy S3 I9300 known issues as per developer:

Camera: Recording effects broken
Camera: Touch 2 focus issues with enabled flashlight
Graphics: bad performance, scrolling lags, keyboard glitches
FM Radio: unsupported. Use Spirit FM Radio from Play Store instead.
TV Out: unsupported (proprietary, undocumented)
No exFAT support (proprietary, Microsoft)

The guide is only for Galaxy S3 I9300 and cannot be tried on any other device. You can find model of your device by going to Settings >> About Phone.

Install CM10.1 Android 4.2.2 on Galaxy S3 I9300

Take a complete backup of data,apps and settings as the procedure may wipe your data.

Make sure that the battery of device has a minimum charge of 60%.

Enable “USB debugging” on your device by going to Settings >> Developer options >> Enable USB debugging.

ClockworkMod recovery should be installed. Guide to install ClockworkMod recovery on Galaxy S3 I9300.

Download CM10.1 Android 4.2.2 for Galaxy S3 I9300 and Google Apps Package.

Copy both the zip files to SD-Card of your device without extracting.

Switch off device and boot into recovery. Hold power button and volume down button and enter recovery.

Perform a Nandrop backup of your existing ROM. Select “Backup and Restore” and then select “Backup again”.

Select “wipe data/factory reset” and wait till the data gets wiped.

Select “install zip from sdcard” and then select “choose zip from sdcard”. Navigate to the CyanogenMod 10.1 ROM file which you have downloaded and confirm to “install”. Wait for few minutes till installation gets complete.

Repeat the procedure to install Google apps by selecting “choose zip from sdcard” and then select “Gapps.zip” and install.

Select “reboot system now”.

CyanogenMod 10.1 Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean is installed on Galaxy S3 I9300.
