Sony Xperia Z has received CyanogenMod 10.1 Nightlies builds. Xperia Z runs on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean however, the nightly build brings Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update for the Xperia Z. We will be going through the guide to install CM10.1 based on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. Sony Xperia Z was launched recently is a 5-inch display of full HD 1080p, powered by quad-core Snapdragon S4 Krait processor clocked at 1.5GHz.
The guide mentioned below is only for Xperia Z and not for any other device. You can check your device model number by going to Settings >> About Phone.

Install CM 10.1 Nightly Build on Sony Xperia Z
Take a complete backup of data,apps and settings as the procedure may wipe your data.
Make sure that the battery of device has a minimum charge of 60%.
Enable “USB debugging” on your device by going to Settings >> Developer options >> Enable USB debugging.
Bootloader of Xperia Z should be unlocked.
ClockworkMod Recovery should be installed. Guide to install ClockworkMod Recovery on Xperia Z.
Copy both the zip files to SD-Card of your device without extracting.
Switch off device.
Boot into recovery. Press and hold down the Volume Up, Volume Down and Power buttons to enter recovery.
Select “wipe data/factory reset” and wait till the data gets wiped completely.
Select “wipe cache partition” and do the wipe.
Open “advanced” option and “wipe dalvik cache”.
Perform a Nandrop backup of your existing ROM. Select “Backup and Restore” and then select “Backup” again. Now, go back to main recovery menu once backup is complete.
Select “install zip from sdcard” and then select “choose zip from sdcard”. Navigate to “CM10.1 ROM” file which you have downloaded and confirm to “install”. Wait till it gets installed.
Repeat the procedure to install Google apps by selecting “choose zip from sdcard” and then select “Gapps.zip” and install.
Select “reboot system now”.
