AOKP ROM for Nexus 4 is available, thanks to AOKP (Android Open Kang Project) team member Xoomdev for releasing this Custom ROM. You should remember that this is not an official build and there may be bugs as it is in initial stage.
In this article we will be going through step by step guide to install AOKP ROM on Nexus 4.
The guide mentioned below is only for LG Nexus 4 and cannot be tried on anyother device. You can check Model number of device by going to Settings >> About phone.
We cannot be held liable of any damage done to your device while following the below mentioned procedure.
Install AOKP ROM on Nexus 4
Take a complete backup of data,apps and settings as the procedure may wipe your data.
Make sure that the battery of device has a minimum charge of 60%.
Enable “USB debugging” on your device by going to Settings >> Developer options >> Enable USB debugging.
Bootloader on your device should be unlocked. You can go through the guide to unlock bootloader on Nexus 4.
Install ClockworkMod Recovery on LG Nexus 4.
Download AOKP ROM from here and Google apps package from here. Copy both the zip files to SD-Card of your device without extracting.
Switch off device and boot into recovery mode. To do that you will have to boot into the bootloader mode by holding down Volume down and Power buttons simultaneously. Then using Volume buttons select Recovery mode.
Perform a Nandrop backup of your existing ROM. Select “Backup and Restore” and then select “Backup” again. Now, go back to main recovery menu once backup is complete.
Select “wipe data/factory reset” and confirm to wipe data. Wait till the data is wiped.
Select “install zip from sdcard” and select “choose zip from sdcard”. Navigate to ROM file and select to confirm installation. Wait till installation gets complete.
Similarly, select “choose zip from sdcard” again and select to install “Google apps package”.
Select “Go Back” and select “Reboot System Now” to reboot your device.
AOKP ROM is installed on your Nexus 4.
