Install Android 4.2.2 AOKP Build 4 ROM on Nexus 7

New AOKP Build 4 based on latest Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean is being released for Nexus 7. We will be going over the tutorial to install Android 4.2.2 AOKP Build 4 on Nexus 7. AOKP team have released build 4 of AOKP which is based on ASOP source. The latest build does not come with any new customization. AOKP ROM is in initial stage so you may find bugs.

The guide is only for Nexus 7 and should not be tried on any other device. To know the model number of your device go to Settings >> About Phone.

Install Android 4.2.2 AOKP Build 4 ROM on Nexus 7

Take a complete backup of data,apps and settings as the procedure may wipe data.

Make sure that the battery is charged to 60%.

Install ClockworkMod recovery on your device. Guide to unlock and root Nexus 7.

Download Android 4.2.2 AOKP Build 4 ROM on Nexus 7 and Google Apps package.

Copy both the above files to the SD Card of your device without extracting.

Switch off the device and enter into ClockworkMod recovery. Press and hold down the Volume Up, Volume Down and Power buttons. Enter into the recovery mode by choosing the “recovery” option.

Take a Nandrop backup of your existing ROM. Select “Backup and Restore” >> On the next screen >> “select Backup again”.Go back to main Recovery Menu once backup is complete.

Select option “wipe data/factory reset” and select to wipe the data. Wait for few minutes while the process gets finished.

Select “install zip from sdcard” and select “choose zip from sdcard”. Scroll to ROM file on SD card and confirm to install. Wait till the ROM completes installation.

Install “Google apps package” by choosing select “choose zip from sdcard” as in the above step.

Once installation of “Google apps package” gets complete.Select “go back” and select “reboot system now” to reboot device.

Android 4.2.2 AOKP Build 4 ROM on Nexus 7 is successfully installed.
