Android 4.2.1 JOP40D update has been rolled out by Google for Nexus 7 which fixes December bug in the People app.Users can download and install the update manually easily.
Before you go ahead with the tutorial, make sure that the battery of device is charged to 60% and Android 4.2 JOP40C should be running on Nexus 7, you can find about the version by going to Settings » About tablet menu on the tablet.
Install Android 4.2.1 JOP40D Update on Nexus 7
Download and install Android SDK to install required drivers.
Download Android 4.2.1 for Nexus 7 Wi-Fi ( 659e6288b87d.signed-nakasi-JOP40D-from-JOP40C.659e6288.zip)
Download Android 4.2.1 for Nexus 7 3G ( 65880f56b1c0.signed-nakasig-JOP40D-from-JOP40C.65880f56.zip)
Download Fastboot (Fastboot.zip)
Extract Fastboot.zip to a folder named as Fastboot in C drive and copy Android 4.2.1 OTA to Fastboot folder.
Switch off device and boot into recovery. Hold down Volume Up, Volume Down and Power buttons together till the screen turns on. When Android logo with Red exclamation appears then hold Power button and press Volume Up key to find recovery menu and then select “apply update from adb”.
Connect device to computer and Open Command Prompt.
Type the following commands and press enter after typing each command –
adb sideload 659e6288b87d.signed-nakasi-JOP40D-from-JOP40C.659e6288.zip – for Nexus 7 Wi-Fi Only
adb sideload 5880f56b1c0.signed-nakasig-JOP40D-from-JOP40C.65880f56.zip – for Nexus 7 3G
When the update gets installed select “reboot system now” to reboot device.
Android 4.2.1 JOP40D update on Nexus 7 is installed.
