Aakash 2 a budget Tablet which is a successor of Aakash is all set to be released in October first week in India. Aakash 2 will be running on Android 2.3 Gingerbread (an update to Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich to come soon) and have a 7 inch multi-touch capacitive touchscreen display.
CEO of Datawind, Sunit Singh Tuli said, ” Supplies are on to IIT Bombay. In the next few weeks, it should be launched. I do not have the exact date, but HRD Minister (Kapil Sibal) has said he wants to launch on the anniversary date which is 5 October.”

DataWind Ltd. which is the manufacturer of Aakash 2 has received 55 lakh orders and most of them are pre-paid booking. The CEO of the Company said,“Out of 55 lakh orders, 4 to 5 per cent were pre-paid bookings. May be in a week or 10 days, all the pre-paid will be done. Then we will focus on pre-bookings. We are giving them offers to upgrade to Android 4.4 version,”

Aakash 2 is being priced at Rs.3,499.
Aakash 2 will be a good competitor to low cost Tablets of MicroMax.
